¨G-Unit!¨
Word up! So, I think I said that in my last blog that I had some more things to talk about but I didn´t have time to say them, well, I´m now having trouble thinking of those things, so I´m instead going to write about other stuff.
Let´s see, I had a show with a punk band that I joined last friday. I had a really good time even though the drum set I played sucked and my group isn´t fabulous. It took place in a highschool of the other members of the band and it was a music program in honor of the English language. So all of the grades in the highschool had to have someone from that grade to represent that grade in what was sort of a musical contest. I think I was the only one there who appreciated the true humorous nature of this contest and its contestants. This is because of the following: 1) I am fluent in english 2) I know quite a bit about music.
First of all, the person who introduced all the groups was hilarious. For every group that came up, he would say something that would corespond with the genere of the group. For rock he would say something like ¨that was totally awesome dude!¨. For rap ¨that was tight dog!¨. Now, that probably doesn´t sound too funny, but keep in mind this was an Ecuadorian saying these things, so that adds quite a bit to the funnyness (not a word) factor.
Also, the groups were all horrible. First of all, they couldn´t pronounce hardly anything right in english. Second of all, many had almost no musical talent. One group was singing to an Avril Lavigne song, but the track (without lyrics) that they were singing to was playing a lot faster then they were singing, which was by no means the fault of the track. Also another group sang a 50 Cent/G-Unit song (which in itself is funny), but I couldn´t stop laughing when the princible ¨rapper´s¨ entorague would shout ¨G-Unit!¨ in an attempt to sound like big black men from the hood.....it was really funny. I also was fortunate to hear a Bon Jovi cover (again in itself funny) but even more so when the group tried to preform it.....I had a really good time.
So, the new Tool album should have come out today (unless I´m mistaken). I will be the happiest person in the world when that gets sent to me. I will listen to it again, and again, and again. It should have a unicameral dominion over all other music that I have for a week....maybe more.
Other stuff, I´m getting pretty pumped to come home. I really love Ecaudor, but my life is waiting for me in the US: Family, friends, my band, and my first year at college. It´s a lot to look forward to seeing and being a part of again and for the first time, so I can´t say I´ll be too sad to go.
Anyway, that´s it for now. Take care and I´ll talk to you all agian soon!
